DOS Visa Bulletin

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) issues a monthly bulletin on the availability of immigrant visas. An immigrant visa number is required for each person immigrating permanently to the United States, either through an Immigrant Visa application at a U.S. Consulate or through Adjustment of Status with USCIS.
Immigrant visas are numerically limited by category and by country of chargeability (usually the country of birth). Immediate relatives (spouses, parents and children) of U.S. citizens are granted immigrant visa numbers without limit, but all other applicants must wait in line for their particular category and country of chargeability.
If a category is Current (C), then there is no backlog for that month. If a category is Unavailable (U), then no applications for permanent residence will be accepted in that category during the month. If your country of chargeability is not India, China, Mexico or the Philippines, use the Worldwide dates.
In order to be granted an immigrant visa or adjustment of status, your priority date must be before the date listed for your category and country.
